Ajax 'keeper Jasper Cillessen: There has been no contact with Manchester United

Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has denied rumours that Manchester United has been in contact with both him and the club over a potential transfer prior to the closure of this summer's window.

The Dutch shot-stopper, who was Louis van Gaal's first-choice 'keeper at the 2014 World Cup, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in light of his relationship with the manager and the Red Devils' continued search for another replacement for David De Gea.

Cillessen, however, says there has been no attempt by United as of yet to broker a deal for his services.

"As far as I know it has never been an item," he told NOS, as quoted by ESPN FC. "I, the club, or my agent have never heard anything. As for me, this season begins and ends at Ajax."

Manager Frank de Boer relayed similar sentiments, though he admitted the situation is not yet decided given the transfer window remains open.

"I expect him to stay, though anything can happen in the final phase of the transfer period. But Jasper is now only more and more expensive," De Boer said.
