Report: Robin van Persie agrees to terms with Fenerbahce

Robin van Persie could be on his way out of Old Trafford, as reports suggest the Dutch international is close to joining Turkey's Fenerbahce.

A transfer fee between Manchester United and the Super Lig club is the only obstacle at this point after Van Persie agreed to personal terms on a four-year deal, according to Emre Sarigul and Jamie Jackson of The Guardian.

His agent, Kees Vos, has been in Istanbul in order to complete the transfer. Van Persie's wife reportedly came close to nixing the transfer after having reservations about the move. However, she accepted the idea after spending a week in the Turkish capital.

Former Dutch international and Liverpool midfielder Dirk Kuyt is also believed to have played a major role in luring Van Persie to Fenerbahce. Kuyt joined the Super Lig team in 2012 before agreeing to join Feyenoord in April.

Van Persie could become the second United player to join Fenerbahce this summer as he looks set to follow in Nani's footsteps. The Portuguese midfielder reportedly agreed to terms with the Turkish team and will reportedly undergo a medical Sunday.

He will also become the second former Arsenal player to join the Super Lig following Lukas Podolski's move to Galatasaray on Saturday.

It's a disappointing end to Van Persie's career at Old Trafford, where manager Louis van Gaal's trust in him was almost nonexistent during his final season; poor performances and injuries saw the 30-year-old lose his place in the first team as the season came to an end.

Van Persie was limited to just 10 goals during 27 appearances in the Premier League, and only managed to play a full match once in his last five matches of the season.
