John Terry on Premier League title: 'This is what I live for'

Winning the Premier League title will never get old for John Terry.

Nor should it. The Chelsea captain had to wait five long years to capture the league title again with the only club he's ever known

He touched on the significance of winning his fourth Premier League title after Chelsea's 1-0 triumph over Crystal Palace, where he obviously has a passion for the game that's matched by very few.

"Unbelievable – we've worked so hard this year to get here. To get over the line today was a tough match, we were a little bit nervous, but we got over the line and we're champions," Terry told Sky Sports after the victory.

"They did (make it nervy for us), especially late on. Listen, they are a good side since Alan Pardew has gone there as well – they made it difficult. Thankfully Eden got the penalty and we've won the game.

"This is what I live for. I've ball-boyed, I've mascotted, I've painted the stadium, I've done everything. It's been five years since we won it and it's really hurt."

Questions about the 34-year-old's ability to maintain a high standard of play in one of the world's top football leagues were asked prior to the season, with Terry's long-time teammate Frank Lampard departed Chelsea to join Major League Soccer, a popular destination for players in the twilight of their career.

Terry, however, went to prove doubters wrong after appearing in all 35 matches and not missing a minute this season in the Premier League.

"One person said I couldn't play twice in a week and he knows who he is. I've not only proved him wrong but everyone wrong – I'm still fighting, I'm still in the side, I'm feeling great. More importantly I've got great players and great management around me."

It's unclear if he will remain in the squad during the final three matches because the ultimate goal was achieved Sunday. But, as he's done throughout his career, Terry will undoubtedly continue to strive to be included in Jose Mourinho's squad until the final whistle is blown.
