Will Power: Tops Indy 500 Practice
Power led the opening day of practice for the 105th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, turning a top lap of 226.470 mph in the No. 12 Verizon 5G Team Penske Chevrolet, IndyCar.com reports.
Analysis:
The veteran Penske Racing driver jumped to the top of the scoring pylon late in the opening day. Power edged Ryan Hunter-Reay to claim the fastest lap of the historic 2.5-mile oval. Reigning Indy 500 winner, Takuma Sato, came in third on the day. Power is a one-time Indianapolis 500 winner, and he's gotten off to a good start in his quest to win a second coveted trophy.
