Georginio Wijnaldum is ready to test himself abroad following PSV's impending Eredivisie triumph.

The PSV captain is one of the critical components to the team's success in the Dutch league, leading them 10 points clear at the top of the table in the final weeks of the season, but feels a new challenge awaits him in one of Europe's top leagues.

“I am happy at PSV but I am a player with a lot of ambition,” Wijnaldum told David Craig of Sky Sports. “I want to play in a stronger league than the Eredivisie.

“With my quality I feel I can bring a lot to a team that I will join. I want to show it in the big leagues; England, Italy, Spain, Germany, and France.”

Wijnaldum, 24, was not a well-known commodity outside of Holland until former national team manager Louis van Gaal included him in the Netherlands' World Cup squad in Brazil.

Appreciative of the opportunity, Wijnaldum expressed a desire to reunite with Van Gaal, who has since joined Manchester United in the Premier League.

"Of course I would like to work with him again,” Wijnaldum said. “He is a good trainer, and makes players better. I work really fine with him and he is a great man.

"He gave me a chance and opportunity to play in a World Cup after seven months out injured, and I am thankful for that. He helped me get my confidence back.”

Wijnaldum hasn't shown any signs of the back injury that forced him to miss a large portion of the 2013-14 season. He's recorded 12 goals and three assists during his 29 appearances in the Dutch league and could attract plenty of attention during the summer transfer window.
