Chase Elliott: Wins Phoenix Pole Position

Elliott won the pole for the Fan Shield 500 at Phoenix Raceway Saturday afternoon. He turned a fast lap of 138.116 mph.

Analysis:

Elliott ran nearly a perfect lap of the one-mile Arizona oval. The No. 9 Chevrolet has been strong ever since the team unloaded it this weekend. Elliott beat out Kevin Harvick's fast lap to take the top of the speed charts and claim his first pole position of the season. It was his ninth-career Cup Series pole. Elliott is going to be tough to beat in Sunday's Fan Shield 500.
