Danny Welbeck: (Knee) Won't Face Stoke

Manager Arsene Wenger said Friday that Welbeck (thigh) will not play Sunday against Stoke City, but he may return Jan. 18 against Manchester City.

Analysis:

Welbeck scored against West Ham in his last match, which came Dec. 28, though the key was that he was the lone striker up front, as Olivier Giroud was suspended. With the Frenchman now eligible, Welbeck will be pushed back out wide when he does return, a position that he is less comfortable playing.
