The results of Wayne Rooney's scan on his knee injury are in, and they bode well for Manchester United.

After tests revealed that his knee problem is nothing overly concerning, the England captain will return to Louis van Gaal's squad on Monday when United visit Southampton.

Rooney suffered the injury during the first half of United's 3-0 win over Hull City last weekend, and he was subsequently ruled out of his side's fixture against Stoke City on Tuesday, a match United won 2-1.

With Rooney likely returning to Van Gaal's starting XI, teenager James Wilson - who started against Stoke and put in a fine performance - should return to the bench.
