Ricciardo took advantage of a well-timed pit stop under caution to put on fresh tires that allowed him to work himself into the lead to win Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix.

The Red Bull Racing driver almost missed qualifying on Saturday with a turbo problem, but turned that adversity into the best possible outcome on Sunday. The Red Bull team made a perfectly timed call to pit when the safety car came on track, which gave Ricciardo a grip advantage over the other drivers at the front of the field in the final segment of the race. He leveraged that grip to attack and capture the win, his first of 2018.
