Mesut Ozil: (Knee) Out 10 to 12 Weeks

Ozil has been ruled out for 10 to 12 weeks due to ruptured ligaments in his left knee, ESPN FC reports.

Analysis:

Ozil's injury is a massive blow to an Arsenal squad that has already fallen victim to their customary medical woes this season. Along with Olivier Giroud (leg) and Mathieu Debuchy (ankle) being ruled out until 2015, the club's record signing Ozil will now likely face the same fate. His injury is a bit curious, considering he played the entirety of Sunday's match against Chelsea, only to have his problem detected upon joining Germany for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers. Nonetheless, the playmaker has been diagnosed with a partial lateral collateral ligament tear in his left knee, which impacts his dominant leg. With the World Cup winner sidelined, as well as Aaron Ramsey (hamstring), far more responsibility should fall on players like Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Santi Cazorla as attacking midfielders for the Gunners moving forward.
