The rout appeared to be on at the KC Stadium after Manchester City took a stranglehold of the match within the first 10 minutes by smashing two goals into the Hull City net.
Sergio Aguero got the scoring started with a clever volley past Allan McGregor to open the scoring seven minutes into the match.
Edin Dzeko doubled the lead minutes later with a powerful, curling shot beyond McGregor's outstretched hands.
Hull City, however, have stormed back to equalize the match thanks to an own goal from City defender Eliaquim Mangala, who later conceded a penalty after a cynical challenge. Abel Hernandez converted from the spot to make it 2-2 after half an hour.
