3 things you need to know about Saturday's Premier League action

Six fixtures were on Saturday's Premier League agenda, and - as is usually the case this early in the season - the results caused a great deal of movement in the table. Three minutes of ruthless attack against Aston Villa allowed Arsenal to leapfrog to fourth in the standings, a convincing display from West Ham saw Sam Allardyce's side return to the table's top half, and Newcastle's inability to earn three points versus Hull City means the Alan Pardew era at St James' Park may be over.

Here are three things you need to know about Saturday's Premier League action:

3 goals in 3 minutes see Arsenal drop Aston Villa

Just over three minutes were required to tear apart Aston Villa's defensive reputation as Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck, and some poor positioning from Aly Cissokho allowed Arsenal to go up 3-0 in the span of 192 seconds, a lead that would hold until the final whistle.

Although Villa's backline was without Ron Vlaar, who is dealing with a calf injury, Arsenal's performance throughout the match will help ease concerns following the Gunners' 2-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, a match where they were overwhelmed from start to finish.

Arsenal's win helped silence the criticism of individual players too, as Ozil registered his first away goal since he joined Arsene Wenger's side one year ago. He's flourishing in a system that saw him return to the middle of the pitch and away from the left flank where he's routinely struggled.

Not only did Ozil open the scoring in the 33rd minute, but his assist 79 seconds later on Welbeck's first goal as an Arsenal player was a thing of beauty.

Welbeck's performance will also hush criticism that surrounded him following his poor finishing against Dortmund.

Taking a step back, however, Arsenal's team effort saw them complete more passes than any Premier League side has completed in the past two seasons.

West Ham hand Liverpool second successive defeat

Liverpool were never able to recover after conceding two goals inside the opening 10 minutes for the first time since February 1994.

A header from Winston Reid in the second minute followed by a cheeky chip from Diafra Sakho five minutes later gave West Ham an early 2-0 lead, and the Hammers subsequently walked away with a 3-1 win courtesy of a third goal from Morgan Amalfitano.

While Sam Allardyce seemingly always faces an uphill battle to earn respect at Upton Park, West Ham's aggressive style of play on Saturday was something to behold as they launched attack after attack throughout the fixture, forcing Liverpool to launch lackluster counterattacks.

Liverpool have now lost three of their first five matches for only the second time in the club's history and sit 10th in the table.

On a positive note, Raheem Sterling put in yet another phenomenal performance and was the lone Liverpool player to get his name on the scoresheet.

Newcastle fight back to earn draw against Hull City in what could be Alan Pardew's last match

Saturday's 2-2 draw between Newcastle and Hull City was reportedly the second of two matches that Alan Pardew had to save his job.

Whether the result is enough for the Newcastle manager to see another day remains to be seen, but the atmosphere inside St. James' Park during the fixture was surprisingly tame, considering the abuse that Pardew suffered on social media throughout this week as well as the reception he received towards the end of last season.

According to the Guardian, only one "Sack Pardew" banner was visible. While the home supporters bizarrely serenaded Hull manager Steve Bruce, and there were occasional chants of "We want Pardew out," the atmosphere wasn't as toxic as many had anticipated.

If Pardew does survive to manage another match, he can likely thank Papiss Cisse, who only returned to training five days ago. Cisse was subbed on in the 64th minute before going on to notch both of Newcastle's goals late in the contest - 74th minute and 87th minute - to salvage a point for his side.
