Aaron Ramsey 'hopeful' of playing Saturday against Manchester City

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey is hopeful the ankle injury he suffered in Tuesday's Euro 2016 qualifier with Wales will not prevent him from taking part in Saturday's highly-anticipated Premier League clash against Manchester City.

The midfielder rolled his left ankle in the latter stages of Wales' 2-1 victory over Andorra, and was substituted before the final whistle.

Speaking with the BBC on Wednesday, the 23-year-old addressed the state of the artificial pitch at the Estadio Nacional before echoing manager Chris Coleman's hope that he will be able to play for the Gunners this weekend.

"I'll be alright. The pitch was very hard - there's no give in it - so I rolled my ankle a bit.

"Hopefully it will be nothing and I'll be available for Saturday. These are the games you want to play in and I'm looking forward to it."

Coleman and Gareth Bale - who scored both goals in helping his side come from behind to claim the victory - questioned the playing surface after the contest, and Ramsey let his feelings on the matter be known as well.

"I don't know how you could play football on that pitch to be honest," he said.

"Normally we play quick and play the ball on the floor, playing around teams, but we couldn't do that.

"It was bobbly so it was very difficult. The main thing is we came here and won. Now we can move on and play on grass next time."
