Danny Welbeck: Knee Injury

Welbeck suffered a knee injury during Saturday's match against Real Madrid in the Guinness International Champions Cup, the club's official website reports.

Analysis:

Welbeck was in position to possibly earn a spot in the starting XI for the Premier League opener against Swansea City on Aug. 16, as Robin van Persie is unlikely to be fit after just resuming training Monday. If Welbeck and van Persie can't go, Javier Hernandez could get the opening start up front.
