Debuchy has been a rumored target of manager Arsene Wenger ever since it was revealed that Bacary Sagna would be moving elsewhere this summer, creating a void at right-back.
The 28-year-old, coming off a standout season that saw him record one goal and three assists in 29 appearances with Newcastle, started four of France's five matches at the World Cup, establishing himself as the starter ahead of the man he has now replaced at the Emirates.
Newcastle will reportedly pocket £12 million as a result of the sale.
Per the link above, the French defender had the following to say about his move:
I’m very proud to be joining a great club like Arsenal and to wear its colours, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the whole world. I’m looking forward to working with Arsène Wenger and to helping the team build on last season’s FA Cup success. Playing again in the Champions League is a big excitement for me and I will do my best to help Arsenal compete for trophies.
Debuchy joins Alexis Sanchez as high-profile signings so far this summer by the Gunners, who look poised to seriously challenge for the Premier League crown this season.
