Yaya Toure's agent: Client would win more awards 'if he was white'

Dmitri Seluk, Yaya Toure's eccentric agent, is back in the news.

Weeks after going on a tirade regarding Manchester City's treatment of his client during an interview with Sky Sports, Seluk said he believes Toure would have won one of football's biggest individual awards if he was white.

"If he (Toure) was white, 100 per cent he would have won one of these top awards," Seluk said, according to the Daily Mail

"I don’t want to talk too much about racism or the politics of football, but he does not get the praise he should get. Yaya has three times in a row won the African Player of the Year, but it is different with the other awards."

Toure made similar claims himself, agreeing with teammate Samir Nasri, who believes the Cote D'Ivoire international would garner more accolades if he was from a traditional footballing power.

"To be honest, proper recognition has only come from the fans. I don't want to be hard and I don't want to be negative, but I want to be honest," said Toure.
