Southampton manager Koeman says team is done selling players

Despite claims that his "head is already with Liverpool," it appears Southampton defender Dejan Lovren might be sticking around St. Mary's Stadium.

Speaking with Sky Sports, new Saints manager Ronald Koeman said the team is now looking to acquire players after selling three key members from last season's squad.

"The first meeting last week was open and clear meeting," said Koeman. "The information was clear about the squad, about the players, I knew at that moment Rickie Lambert, [Adam] Lallana, [Luke] Shaw but after that we said we are not a selling club, we like to keep the rest of the good players and even we like to bring new players in."

Southampton has reportedly denied Liverpool's £20 million bid for Lovren in hopes of landing a higher transfer fee.

"I spoke two times to Dejan, he was very clear of his situation," Koeman said during his introductory press conference. "'I said okay I'm the new manager, I like to keep all the good players.' I like to keep Dejean on the team cause he is an important player in an important position.

"I respect all the meetings but we have to do as management what [is] the best is for the club and he has [a] contract, he has to come back this Sunday."
