Diego Costa heads home 50th Premier League goal
Diego Costa's dip in form can't overshadow his long-term exploits at Chelsea.
On Tuesday, Costa tallied his 50th Premier League goal, scoring in the second half of Chelsea's match versus Southampton at Stamford Bridge. The 28-year-old forward exhibited the strength and technique that have defined his time in the United Kingdom, as he held off Ryan Bertrand and placed a perfect header past Fraser Forster.
Only Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink reached 50 Premier League goals for Chelsea in fewer games, hitting the half-century mark in 84 appearances.
Costa's goal also brought an end to his scoring drought in the Premier League, which dates back to Chelsea's 2-1 victory at West Ham United on March 6. He went on to score a second goal against Southampton, raising his top-flight tally to 51 with what was his 20th goal in all competitions this season.
