Report: Manchester United plotting £40M move for Tottenham's Dier
Manchester United is holding out hope of securing Eric Dier's services this summer in a transfer that could see Tottenham collect one of the highest-ever transfer fees for an English player.
Manager Jose Mourinho will target the versatile Dier with £40-million bid once the transfer window opens, and is prepared to allow the 23-year-old to slot back into his preferred position in the midfield after being deployed in defence to help offset injuries for much of the current campaign, according to James Ducker of the Telegraph.
Convincing Tottenham to sell the England international could prove difficult considering Dier signed a new five-year contract earlier this season.
United reportedly opted against pursuing Dier in January, having realised Tottenham likely would not have sold to a Premier League rival in the middle of the season.

Ducker adds that, if United is successful in its pursuit, Tottenham could target Burnley defender Michael Keane this summer in a move that could cost the north London outfit £30 million.
However, Spurs will likely face competition from rivals Everton and Liverpool after the Merseyside clubs reportedly expressed an earlier interest during the 20-year-old's breakout season.
