Corinthians in talks to sign Drogba

Didier Drogba could be closing in on a shock move to Corinthians after the Brazilian side confirmed talks with the Ivorian striker.

The club's sporting director, Flavio Adauto, indicated the final decision is up to Drogba - who is out of contract following his time with the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer - after Corinthians officials received and accepted the 38-year-old's demands.

"Corinthians were yesterday (Friday) informed of Drogba's demands, which weren't excessive, and we've sent off a formal proposition to the player's agent saying that they've been accepted," Adauto said, as translated by Paul Vinnell of Sky Sports.

News of the Brazilian side's interest comes less than a week after Drogba revealed he's open to returning to Marseille. However, he indicated a move to the club, which he last represented in 2004, would be difficult as the French side's board appeared reluctant to meet his wage demands.

Dorgba left Marseille for Chelsea, where he played a pivotal role during one of the most successful eras in club history.

He went on to become one of the pioneers to join the Chinese Super League when he signed with Shanghai Shenhua before stints with Galatasaray and Montreal.
