Everton rubber-stamps Cleverley's loan to Watford

Everton midfielder Tom Cleverley has been sent on loan to Watford until the end of the season.

The deal, which sees the Manchester United product return to the club he represented on a temporary spell in the 2009-10 term, includes an option to buy for the Hornets.

Everton wished the 13-time England international good luck on Twitter, with opportunities in Ronald Koeman's starting XI restricted due to the Dutchman's preference for a deep-lying midfield duo and Ross Barkley's regular deployment behind Romelu Lukaku.

The 27-year-old has made 10 appearances in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign so far, and was shoved further down the pecking order with the signing of Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United on Thursday.

At Watford he'll look to break up the preferred central midfield duo of Valon Behrami and Etienne Capoue, and can also provide cover on the wing.

The Hornets host Middlesbrough at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
