Pochettino vows to Tango with chairman Levy if Spurs win league

Mr. Levy, may I have this dance?

Should Tottenham win its first top-flight title since 1960-61, that's exactly the question Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino will ask of the club's chairman, Daniel Levy.

The Argentine gaffer has vowed to enlist the assistance of Levy to dance the two-person Tango popularised in the gaffer's homeland along the famous River Plate if the north London lot win the league.

After an emphatic 2-0 midweek victory over table-topper Chelsea at White Hart Lane courtesy of Dele Alli's third brace on the bounce, Pochettino may fancy a dance lesson or two.

"Yes, maybe we try," Pochettino told the Evening Standard's Tom Collomosse about the promise to Tango with Levy. "Why not? If we win the Premier League, I will do anything. We are in a good position - third in the table after 20 games.

"Sometimes in the big games you might not play your best, but you need always to be competitive."

After coming third last season in a two-horse race, eventually falling behind rival Arsenal for the 21st consecutive campaign, Pochettino has identified the differences between this season's Spurs side and the one that drew with relegation fodder Newcastle on the final day of the 2015-16 term.

"Maybe that is what we missed last season when we were challenging Leicester for the title, so the Chelsea game was a big statement and a big step forward.

"If we can keep that mentality, we will always be close to winning games. The physical demand is massive but so is the mental one."

With research suggesting that the Tango can both benefit a dancer's physical stature and mental health, perhaps the gaffer would be wise to have his player's cut a rug in advance of what's sure to be a demanding title run.
