Klopp: Sturridge's ankle injury doesn't look serious
Oft-injured Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge limped out of Monday's 2-2 draw against Sunderland, but manager Jurgen Klopp allayed concerns after the contest by claiming that the ankle issue he suffered isn't a serious one.
"[Sturridge] got a knock on his right ankle. I don't think it's too bad," Klopp said during his post-match news conference.
The Englishman opened the scoring in the contest, but walked off the pitch gingerly in the 80th minute, replaced by Lucas Leiva.
Sturridge, 27, has a well-documented injury history that borders on the unbelievable, but he's looked bright in limited action this season.
With Sadio Mane departing for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Reds will need to rely on Sturridge to help replace the Senegalese star's attacking production.
Klopp also has Divock Origi at his disposal, while Philippe Coutinho is expected to imminently make his long-awaited comeback from an ankle problem of his own.
