Premier League team of the weekend: Strikeforce a Gray area

Anthony Devlin / Reuters

After another weekend of some great individual performances, theScore puts together a best XI from the latest slate of Premier League fixtures.

The lineup

GK - Artur Boruc

When it comes to Bournemouth's starting XI, error-strewn oldie Boruc is an impostor. He atoned for some squalid showings this term, however, by swatting away five Swansea City efforts to claim a clean sheet in the 3-0 away win.

RB - Kieran Trippier

Trippier may play second fiddle to Kyle Walker at Tottenham, but when he's called upon he often showcases his delicious delivery after a right-flank wander. He slid in a sneaky ball for Harry Kane's opener at Watford, and then swerved a homing missile onto Kane's right foot on 33 minutes.

CB - Michael Keane

Keane overcame a shaky appearance against Middlesbrough with a solid outing in Burnley's 4-1 defeat of Sunderland. His restraint off the ball and sensible use with it would've made him an ideal candidate for Manchester United's defence if Louis van Gaal hadn't have sold him in 2015.

CB - Ragnar Klavan

Liverpool's hosting of Manchester City didn't live up to the hype, but Klavan, toeing a fine line with an early yellow card, put in a superb performance to silence both Sergio Aguero and his critics from the first few months of the season. He made three tackles and seven clearances in the 1-0 win.

LB - Leighton Baines

In Friday's 2-2 draw between Hull City and Everton, the latter's left-back Baines found Ross Barkley encroaching on the 6-yard box with a pinpoint cross for the late equaliser. The 32-year-old also made four valuable interceptions on Humberside.

RM - Matt Phillips

Quickly challenging Joel Matip and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the signing of the season is Phillips, who had an instant understanding with full debutant Hal Robson-Kanu. In a seven-minute spell, the Scot grabbed a goal and then teed up Robson-Kanu, and was the most dangerous player on the park for West Brom's 2-1 victory in Southampton.

CM - Paul Pogba

Pogba cracked the woodwork and diverted a header into the top corner for the late winner against Middlesbrough, capping off an all-action performance from the world's most expensive player. He made more passes in the opposition half (71) than anyone else, and pinged three more shots than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

CM - Jack Wilshere

Is Wilshere finally fit? The 25-year-old, on loan from Arsenal, was the creative spark in Bournemouth's midfield, flourishing in the space Swansea gave him to complete two dribbles, two key passes, and play an instrumental role in the first two strikes.

LM - Willian

Being shunted out to the left is Willian, who won a place in Antonio Conte's starting lineup due to Pedro's suspension and made the most of his chance with a brace. The Brazilian is the biggest talent sacrificed for Chelsea's 3-4-3 setup, but has now given his manager a welcome selection headache after the 4-2 dismissal of Stoke City.

FW - Andre Gray

Olivier Giroud, Diego Costa, and Anthony Martial were all excellent in their respective outings, but Gray is the name on this weekend's team sheet. From a troubled non-league forward on the verge of wasting his talent, to the scorer of a Premier League hat trick after converting each of his three shots on target against Sunderland.

FW - Harry Kane

The tandem of Dele Alli and Kane is in full swing, with the youth team graduates sharing the goals in Tottenham's 4-1 win at Watford. The host was inept at defending, but Kane capitalised early on with his first-half double and assisted for the last effort of the day.
