City's Sterling training ahead of Leicester trip

Raheem Sterling could be involved in Manchester City's away test at Leicester City on Saturday after manager Pep Guardiola revealed the winger was in Thursday's training session.

The 22-year-old sat out last weekend's 3-1 home defeat to Chelsea and the midweek 1-1 draw against Celtic with a knee complaint, but could be drafted into the matchday squad for this weekend's journey to the east Midlands.

"Sterling is much better, yesterday he trained good, hopefully he'll be fit for the game," Guardiola said at Friday's press conference.

He added on the fitness of another previously sidelined player: "Fabian (Delph) trained yesterday, all of them are good, no problem."

Despite the long-term absence of Vincent Kompany, City's greatest hurdle lies with three suspensions to first-team players. Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho begin bans of four and three matches, respectively, for their parts in the brawl with Chelsea, while Nicolas Otamendi's yellow card in that defeat sees him serve a one-match suspension for accumulation.

Even with these players in the lineup, City has suffered from a mixed bag of results lately, but Guardiola attests that more performances like those in the last two outings will make for a successful season in Eastlands.

"I am a coach for the results of course, but I want to feel that my team is playing well. Sometimes you deserve to win and you're able to, but sometimes that happens," he explained.

"Always I am focused of the way we play, not always the result. If we play how we played against Chelsea or Celtic, we are going to do good things."

City travels to a Leicester side that has struggled to juggle its domestic and continental commitments this term. Claudio Ranieri's reigning champion is positioned just two points above the relegation zone before the match.
