Moses blames Mourinho for Chelsea snub: 'He never spoke to me'

Handed a new lease on life at Chelsea, Victor Moses is thankful for the opportunities he's had under manager Antonio Conte.

But it wasn't always like that.

Moses recalled a virtually non-existent relationship with Jose Mourinho to ESPN FC's Liam Twomey. Between 2013-2015, the Nigeria international spent his time away on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City, and West Ham - and Mourinho said nary a word to him.

"He never spoke to me," Moses said. "I thought in my head, 'He's got his own players already.'

"I think we chatted a couple of times on the phone - he asked me if I was alright at Liverpool - but that was it."

The 25-year-old started the current campaign on a good note, scoring three times in nine appearances. He also started the past two Premier League matches against Hull City and Leicester, giving Chelsea width as a right wing-back in a 3-4-3 formation.

It's a new experience for him - Moses previously played further up the pitch as a winger or second striker - but it's working for him.

"I've never actually played the position before," he said. "I kind of like it. … I've got (Cesar) Azpilicueta next to me as well and he's always talking to me, making sure I'm in the right position."
