Terry passes fitness test ahead of United clash

John Terry has overcome a minor ankle problem in time to possibly suit up for Chelsea on Sunday against Manchester United, manager Antonio Conte confirmed Friday.

The Chelsea captain appeared to be close to making a return against Leicester City last weekend after recovering from a foot ligament injury, but the ankle knock delayed his restoration into Conte's team.

Terry has not featured for Chelsea since Sept. 11, when he sustained a foot injury during a 2-2 draw against Swansea City.

He was initially expected to miss only 10 days, but has been forced to skip Chelsea's last four Premier League fixtures.

In his absence, the club only managed to win two of four matches, deploying David Luiz at the back to partner with Gary Cahill.

Conte experimented with the backline after back-to-back defeats when he successfully used three at the back instead of four during victories over Hull City and Leicester. He did not delve into whether he will stick with this tactic.
