Klopp: With patience, Liverpool can 'achieve something special'

Jurgen Klopp believes if Liverpool fans can exercise a little patience, the club can "achieve something special" under his watch.

The German is overseeing his first full season at the Reds helm, and there's reason for optimism at the Merseyside outfit through the fast-paced attacking football, relentless work rate throughout the lineup and, away from on-pitch matters, the recent renovations made to its Anfield home.

Through eight matches, Liverpool occupies fourth spot in the Premier League and Klopp is pleased with how things are going.

"Having the opportunity to work for Liverpool is a dream come true and better than I imagined, actually," Klopp told Sporting News' Melissa Reddy. "We've showed Liverpool fans the first steps and I love the idea of progressing together.

"Everyone says the world around us is kind of crazy, with the big money, and everyone talks about the small things, the big things, but we want people to talk about the football. Let's talk about the football."

With the enhanced expectations around Liverpool, its supporters would've been rightly aggrieved by Monday's dreary 0-0 home draw with Manchester United. But, like the final losses in the League Cup and Europa League last season, Klopp warns there's still plenty of work to do before Liverpool can regularly compete for the top titles.

"People talk about the number of years that the club haven't won the league, but really for us it's only been a year which makes us feel better," he continued. "If the Liverpool fans are patient then we can achieve something special here."

With no continental commitments over the working week, Liverpool is set to return to duty Saturday when West Bromwich Albion visits L4.
