Brazilian legend Ronaldo wants Coutinho to make Madrid move

If Brazilian icon Ronaldo had the power to oversee transfer dealings at the Santiago Bernabeu, one of his compatriots would be at the very top of his wish list.

The former Real Madrid striker, who scored 104 goals in just 177 games with Los Blancos, said in an interview on Onda Cero's "El Transistor" radio show that he wants to see diminutive Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho make the switch to the Spanish capital.

"I would like to see Coutinho at Real Madrid, the Liverpool player," Ronaldo said, straightforwardly.

The now hefty 40-year-old, whose otherwise outstanding career was hampered by a series of knee problems, was also asked his opinion on the perpetual duel between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Given his allegiances - he spent just one year at Barcelona compared to five with Madrid - the response was predictable.

"They are three great players," he said, as quoted by ESPN FC. "I would also include Luis Suarez as he is playing very well. This is the most common question in all interviews - I don't know if it is just for me, or for everyone, but when we ask this question we forget that they are three great players.

"It is so difficult to choose just one as the best. They are very, very good. At the moment I will choose Cristiano as he is playing for Real Madrid, but we cannot forget how good Messi and Neymar are, and we must respect these players for the entertainment they bring us."
