Bayern Munich's Badstuber: Ancelotti more personable than Guardiola
Carlo Ancelotti beats Bayern Munich predecessor Pep Guardiola when it comes to man management, says German defender Holger Badstuber.
Stopping short of criticising his former gaffer, Badstuber offered a subtle comparison between the two coaches. Ancelotti's only been with the club for a few months, and still Badstuber believes it's easier to have a chat with the Italian bench boss than it ever was with Guardiola.
"Our current coach likes to exchange opinions with the players, and so the conversation goes back and forth," the 27-year-old is quoted as saying. "That's good, too. With Pep, it was different. I would have to approach him because if I want to have a discussion then I will go looking for it."
The past three years have tested Badstuber's patience as he's dealt with various injuries - including an ACL rupture that forced him to miss the majority of Guardiola's first two seasons in charge of the Bavarian outfit.
The player is still sidelined with a muscular problem, meaning he's yet to play a competitive match under Ancelotti. But there's clearly an understanding between the pair.
It's not the first time a former player has criticised Guardiola's coaching style. Swedish firebrand Zlatan Ibrahimovic famously accused Johan Cruyff's apprentice of shunning him during a particularly tense season at Barcelona.
Ancelotti, meanwhile, has been praised from club to club for his ability to include everyone.
Former AC Milan captain Paolo Maldini wrote in Ancelotti's autobiography that it's a "sign of his intelligence that he does not try to do everything himself."
