Gerrard open to Premier League return after LA Galaxy adventure

Unsure of his next move in football, former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has left a Premier League return on the table.

Gerrard's current contract with the LA Galaxy expires in November, although there's no indication he will extend his deal to remain in Major League Soccer.

There's still a deep playoff run on the horizon for the 36-year-old, who's yet to win a major trophy in America.

But afterwards, he has a choice to make. It doesn't appear he's ready to hang up his boots just yet - not with the Premier League offering entertaining fare.

"I'm wondering whether I should play on for a little bit longer or whether I should call it a day. I haven't 100 percent decided on that yet," Gerrard told Liverpool-based radio station Radio City Talk.

"I still enjoy playing, I still love coming into training, I still love competing, so if I can carry on and there are other opportunities to stay here, or go somewhere else for another six months or 12 months, then I'll consider it."

Whether that means a return to Merseyside is unclear. Gerrard visited his former teammates and manager Jurgen Klopp last November following his first MLS campaig, with Klopp revealing at the time that "our doors are always open for him."

Gerrard moved to the U.S. in 2015 after spending 17 years with Liverpool, though he failed to win a Premier League title with his childhood club.

Given the promising start by his former side - which is provisionally second in the Premier League - he could yet be tempted with a curtain call.

If an offer doesn't arrive from Liverpool or elsewhere, Gerrard said he's ready to take the plunge into management.

"If nothing comes up, I'll try and fly through the coaching badges and see what happens down the road," he added. "I'm around 60 percent through my A licence and I'm hoping to have that finished by the end of the year, so we'll go from there."

Gerrard's Galaxy are in prime position to make a run for the MLS Cup. They are third in the Western Conference with two regular-season games remaining.
