Whatever Antonio Conte said, N'Golo Kante listened.

With help of the new Italian manager, Chelsea was able to persuade the 25-year-old midfielder to join the club from reigning Premier League champion Leicester City.

Kante wrote on Twitter on Sunday that Chelsea's "high ambitions" match his own, and Conte's words won him over.

"At the beginning of the 2016-17 season, I chose to join Chelsea FC. It is a great club, which has just recruited a great coach, and want to reach high ambitions I share," Kante said. "The club's project and the coach's speech have convinced me to join this new ambitious adventure."

Kante didn't forget the club that gave him his first chance in the Premier League. A dynamic and ubiquitous presence in the Leicester midfield, the Frenchman was a protagonist in the Foxes' title run.

"I want to thank the leaders, my teammates, and Claudio Ranieri for this fantastic season that saw us winning the title of England. Their confidence and also the fans' will forever remain in my memory," he said.

Fresh off the disappointment of losing the Euro 2016 final to Portugal in extra time, Kante also had words for the French public. He praised the Les Bleus supporters for giving the team "strength," and offered his thoughts for the victims of the Nice attacks on July 14.
