Arteta undecided about future despite coaching offers

With his Arsenal contract set to expire in the summer and reports surfacing that former Barcelona teammate Pep Guardiola has lured the midfielder to Manchester City in a coaching role, Mikel Arteta reportedly remains uncertain about his future.

The San Sebastian-born veteran has had discussions with City in advance of Guardiola's arrival, but he hasn't made a determination about his future, according to Sky Sports.

Arteta, 34, hasn't formally announced his retirement, but conceded after the Premier League closer at the Emirates Stadium he was no longer worthy of a spot in Arsene Wenger's star-studded squad.

"To have the opportunity to say goodbye and 99 percent to say goodbye to the sport that I love is very hard, but my taste of it can't get better than today. A big thank you to everybody," a tearful Arteta said in May.

Among a trio of outgoing central midfielders making their Arsenal exits, alongside Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini, Arteta appears to have his eyes firmly set on a future as a manager.

"It is very unusual to have opportunities at this level. As well, that made me think it was probably time (to retire) and the way I have been watching football in the last few months - or probably over a year - it was not as a player, it was more as a coach. Then you have to think about it."

Arteta has since admitted to receiving three coaching offers, and while he refused to name the clubs, the former Everton player didn't eliminate a future at Arsenal.

"I have been left the door very open (at Arsenal) and I may have to make a decision. I don't want to say clubs but I have three very different options and I am very proud because it is not common."
