Venezuela could not have opened the scoring against Uruguay in more spectacular fashion, as Salomon Rondon cleaned up Alejandro Guerra's incredible 52-yard strike that smacked off the crossbar.

Guerra caught Fernando Muslera off his line and sent a shot on goal from around the midfield line, forcing the Uruguay goalkeeper into making a desperate save; Muslera could only get the ball off the crossbar though, and Rondon was there to clean up the spill with ease.

Should the 1-0 scoreline hold, Venezuela would become the second team to qualify for the quarter-final stage of the Copa America Centenario, having already defeated Jamaica 1-0 in its Group C opener.
