Borussia Dortmund supporters attacked ahead of Galatasaray fixture
Wednesday's Champions League fixture between Galatasaray and Borussia Dortmund features two clubs with some of the most hardcore and passionate supporters in Europe.
That passion unfortunately translated into violence on Tuesday night as Dortmund supporters were attacked in Istanbul.
"We understand that a small group was attacked, and two BVB fans needed to get outpatient treatment," Dortmund press director Sascha Fligge told ESPN FC. "The police arrested a handful of offenders, and confiscated one knife and one baton/iron bar. We have so far not received any feedback from other groups."
Fligge's statement confirmed a previous report from Dortmund fanzine schwaltgelb.de, which suggested that Galatasaray supporters had stormed several pubs with knives and beat up opposing fans.
Here's video footage as well as several images of the apparent violence.

Dortmund claim that 2,400 supporters made the trip to Istanbul, which holds a reputation as one of the most hostile atmospheres in the world for football matches.
