Roma, and particularly Maicon, would like the opening five minutes against Manchester City back.
The Brazilian defender was caught sleeping after an extended period of City possession. After keeping the attack onside, he compounded the problem by hauling down Sergio Aguero in the area.
The Argentine stepped up and made no mistake with his penalty.
Roma has come into the match at the other end since going behind, with Maicon smashing the crossbar just minutes later.
