Grey Cup preview: RedBlacks, Eskimos square off in battle of CFL's best

Fittingly, the CFL's top two teams will meet Sunday in the Grey Cup final as the Edmonton Eskimos and Ottawa RedBlacks hit the gridiron at Investors Group Field in Winnipeg.

Fresh off being named the league's Most Outstanding Player, RedBlacks quarterback Henry Burris will look to put forward one more remarkable outing to cap off his dream season.

Across the field, the Eskimos will look to put an end to Ottawa's storybook tale.

QB - Advantage: Ottawa

It goes without saying that the CFL's best player will be on the field Sunday, and Burris will be the key to Ottawa's success, just like he has been all season.

It also helps that the veteran is coming off back-to-back games of at least 320 yards passing, so the Eskimos better be ready.

WR - Advantage: Ottawa

Ottawa will take Edmonton's two receivers with 1,000-plus receiving yards and double that, as the RedBlacks just have way too many receivers ready to complement their plus quarterback.

Although the Eskimos are dangerous, Ottawa gets the edge for simply being much deeper.

RB - Advantage: Ottawa

This is kind of a moot point because both Burris and Mike Reilly heavily depend on the throwing game. Not to mention, in the red zone, Reilly is Edmonton's most prolific runner.

But in the end, Ottawa running back William Powell is more of an asset than Akeem Shavers in the backfield.

ST - Advantage: Edmonton

Kendial Lawrence is the go-to guy on special teams, and he's as dangerous as they come.

Edmonton's special teams catalyst finished second in the CFL in combined return yards with 1,797. Just for fun, he also has 332 receiving yards and three touchdowns. This is a clear advantage for the Eskimos.

DEF - Advantage: Edmonton

There's no team that betters the Eskimos in total defense, even though Ottawa also has one of the best defenses in the CFL.

But the nod goes to Edmonton, as John Ojo, Patrick Watkins, and Aaron Grymes have combined for 13 interceptions this season. The Eskimos also finished tied for third in total sacks, so Burris should keep his head up.
