Blue Bombers continue postseason hunt against RedBlacks
A week after the Ottawa RedBlacks clinched a playoff berth against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, the two teams will go at it again, this time at Investors Group Field.
Despite a 5-10 record, the Bombers are still in contention for a playoff spot, but they need to win in order to keep pace with the B.C. Lions, who are also fighting to clinch.
Once again, Winnipeg will hand the ball to Matt Nichols. In last weekend's loss to Ottawa, he threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns, though he also chucked three picks.
In what will be Winnipeg's final home game of the season, there is a bright spot: The Blue Bombers have played one more game than B.C. and Montreal, but won the season series with the Lions, and the Alouettes need to finish with more points than either of the West Division clubs to qualify through the crossover.
Ottawa will once again have 40-year-old Henry Burris under center. For the fourth time this season, he was named one of the CFL's top weekly performers after throwing for 370 yards and one touchdown on 34-of-43 passing to lead his team to the playoffs.
Burris is a leading candidate for the league's Most Outstanding Player award. He wouldn't be the oldest player to win the award, however. That honor belongs to Damon Allen, who won it in 2005 with the Toronto Argonauts at the age of 42.
