The Calgary Stampeders added some depth to their backfield by acquiring running back Jerome Messam in a trade with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The Stamps will also get a 2016 fifth-round pick as part of the deal, while the Roughriders receive kicker Tyler Crapigna and a third-round pick in the 2016 draft.

Messam ranks second in the CFL with 826 rushing yards this season while averaging 6.1 yards per carry. He'll join running back Jon Cornish to give Calgary a dynamic one-two punch, although Cornish is out this week against the Toronto Argonauts due to neck stiffness.

The Stampeders will be the fifth CFL team Messam has played for, with previous stops in B.C., Edmonton, Montreal, and of course Saskatchewan.
