Kent Austin: Tiger-Cats poised for Grey Cup win

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats know that just making it to the Grey Cup isn't enough.

"We put a plan together that we think can win," head coach Kent Austin said at his post-practice conference on Friday.

He added that he typically throws out some of the plays he brings. "It's a constant re-adjustment during the game."

Austin said it's not as simple as doing what you've done all season. Given the caliber of their opponents, the Calgary Stampeders, he said his players and coaches have been preparing with some in-depth research.

"People think you just go out and draw it up. The game's not like that anymore. It's pretty complicated," Austin said. "Defenses and offenses are really sophisticated.

"You have to run through a lot of different scenarios to make sure you're covering as much ground as possible, both with the data mining that you do, previous games, but also of 'what if?' scenarios that you run though in the event that you face something completely different."
