CFL Game Summary - Toronto at British Columbia

Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ricky Ray passed for 284 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the Toronto Argonauts to a 40-23 win over the British Columbia Lions on Friday.

Ray completed 24-of-33 passes for Toronto, which had lost four straight games but capped its four-game road trip with a statement victory.

Curtis Steele and Steve Slaton each had a touchdown on the ground, while Chad Owens made eight catches for 117 yards and a score. Kicker Swayze Waters was perfect, hitting all three of his field goal attempts, including two from 50- plus yards.

Kevin Glenn picked up 291 yards, two touchdowns and an interception through the air for British Columbia, which had won five of six. Emmanuel Arceneaux and Bryan Burnham each picked up a receiving score, and backup quarterback John Beck ran for a touchdown late in the setback.

Waters gave the Argos an early lead with a single five minutes in and added a 53-yard field goal on the next Toronto drive. The first quarter ended with Toronto in front, 4-0, but the scoring picked up after that.

Ray passed to a pair of former NFL players on the first two plays of the second quarter, finding Slaton for 15 yards before hooking up with LaVon Brazill for a 30-yard touchdown.

Minutes later, Ray went 3-for-3 during a short drive that saw Toronto pick up 75 yards on three plays. His 38-yard connection with Owens made it 18-1.

B.C. scored its first touchdown at 6:33 of the second, when Glenn found Arceneaux for a 20-yard score.

Lions kicker Paul McCallum missed his second field goal of the period later for another single, and Waters capped the stanza with a 45-yard kick to send the Argonauts into halftime with a 21-9 lead.

Slaton's 29-yard rushing score 5 1/2 minutes into the third broke the game open, and Toronto rolled the rest of the way.
