CFL Game Summary - Edmonton at Calgary

Calgary, AB - Jon Cornish rushed for 163 yards with a touchdown to lead the Calgary Stampeders to a 28-13 win over the Edmonton Eskimos on Monday.

Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 252 yards and a touchdown on 18-of-29 passing for Calgary (8-1), which has won four straight.

Matt Nichols finished with 203 yards on 18-for-30 passing for the Eskimos (7-2), who received their lone touchdown on a blocked punt in the first quarter.

The Eskimos' two losses this season have come at the hands of Calgary. The two teams meet again next week in Edmonton.

The Stampeders opened the scoring on their first possession with Drew Tate capping an 8-play, 65-yard drive with a 1-yard rushing touchdown.

Rene Paredes added a single on the ensuing kickoff, then Edmonton made it a one-point game after Willie Jefferson blocked a Calgary punt and Otha Foster returned it 57 yards for a touchdown.

Mitchell converted his touchdown throw with just under 8 1/2 minutes left in the second quarter, a 27-yard strike to Anthony Parker for a 15-7 Calgary lead.

Later in the quarter, Grant Shaw added a 14-yard field goal for Edmonton to cap the first half scoring.

Paredes accounted for the only scoring in the third quarter with a 47-yard field goal for an 18-10 lead.

A roughing the kicker penalty on Edmonton prolonged a Stamps drive early in the fourth, and Cornish made it count soon afterward with a 3-yard burst into the end zone.

The Eskimos couldn't muster much on offense all day, as both Shaw and Paredes kicked successful field goals in the closing minutes to account for the final margin.
