CFL Game Summary - Ottawa at Montreal

Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Whitaker rushed for 100 yards and Jonathan Crompton threw for 245 more as the Montreal Alouettes outlasted the Ottawa RedBlacks, 20-10, at Percival-Molson Stadium.

Crompton completed 15-of-25 pass attempts and was intercepted once for Montreal (2-7), but it was Tanner Marsh who threw the team's lone touchdown pass. Duron Carter finished with a game-high 127 yards on five receptions. Whitaker reached the century mark on 17 carries.

"I feel good not only for myself, but also for my offensive line," Whitaker said of his performance in the win. "We're getting back into a rhythm and we hope to continue it in the next few games."

Henry Burris tallied 246 yards and a touchdown on 21-of-34 passing for Ottawa (1-8). Wallace Miles brought in seven of those passes for 101 yards and a score. The RedBlacks were guilty of 17 penalties for 135 yards.

"We just found a way to beat ourselves again" Burris said.

Brett Maher booted a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter to give Ottawa a 3-0 edge.

Montreal answered with a one-yard touchdown pass from Marsh to S.J. Green.

The Alouettes also got a 52-yard single from Sean Whyte early in the second quarter. There was no other scoring in the first half.

Whyte was responsible for all of the scoring in the third quarter as well, notching a 55-yard single, a 22-yard field goal and a 49-yard single. The Alouettes lead 13-3 at the end of the period.

Ottawa got a big jolt midway through the fourth quarter when Burris threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Miles, making the score 13-10.

The comeback attempt would fall short, however, with the Alouettes pulling ahead 20-10 on a 17-yard touchdown run from James Rodgers on the second play of their ensuing drive.
