Tiger-Cats' Brooks expected to be OK after being stretchered off field
Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Derrius Brooks is expected to be alright after he was stretchered off the field Friday night against the Edmonton Eskimos and taken to hospital with an apparent head/neck injury.
The team tweeted Friday evening that tests on Brooks, who was moving his extremities when he was removed from the game, came back negative and he was set to be released from the hospital later that night.
Brooks suffered the injury in the third quarter upon colliding with teammate Dominique Ellis. The game was delayed about 12 minutes while trainers tended to Brooks and called for the stretcher.
He's since jumped on Twitter to thank fans for their support.
The Tiger-Cats fell to Edmonton 29-26, dropping them to second in the East Division standings.
In other injury news, Hamilton didn't offer a postgame update on receiver Andy Fantuz, who left the contest with a knee injury.
