Lions look to rebound from loss at home vs. RedBlacks

After a tough loss last week, the BC Lions will look to get back on the winning track Saturday when they host the Ottawa RedBlacks at BC Place.

Last week, the Lions saw their three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Edmonton Eskimos. Quarterback Jonathon Jennings had a rare off day, committing his first multi-interception game since Week 6 and completing only a sliver more than half his throws.

The RedBlacks, on the other hand, head to the West Coast following a win over the Toronto Argonauts, in which pivot Trevor Harris was solid yet again. Though he didn't throw a touchdown, Harris completed over 70 percent of his passes, scored once with his legs, and helped Ottawa take hold of first place in the East Division.

BC and Ottawa already tangled once this season - the Lions emerged with a hard-fought 29-23 victory - and the rushing game provided the one major statistical difference between the teams. Whereas the RedBlacks racked up 59 yards on 13 carries, the Lions showed a stronger commitment to the ground game and finished with 128 yards on 27 attempts.

Therefore, Ottawa's Mossis Madu - who started for the injured Travon Van - and BC's Anthony Allen figure to be under the spotlight in this one. Madu had 91 yards on 16 carries last week, while Allen has 326 yards and two touchdowns for the season while averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

A home win would improve the Lions' record to 9-5 and keep them ahead of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Division. A road victory would move the RedBlacks to 7-5-1 and keep them ahead of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for top spot in the East.
