Man charged with murder in Mylan Hicks' death
Calgary police have charged a 19-year-old Calgary man with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Calgary Stampeders defensive back Mylan Hicks.
Nelson Tony Lugela is scheduled to appear in court Friday.
Hicks was shot and killed after an altercation at a nightclub early Sunday morning following the Stampeders' win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Calgary Police Service released a statement about the arrest on their Facebook account:
"There (were) several witnesses, probably upwards of 20 or more witnesses that were interviewed over the span of yesterday, and the information provided by those witnesses ranges, but we've got a fair bit of cooperation from those people," inspector Don Coleman said at a news conference after the arrest.
