Roughriders look to end 7-game slide against Eskimos

The Saskatchewan Roughriders will be desperate to give their fans something to cheer about when they host the Edmonton Eskimos on Sunday.

Chris Jones and Company haven't won since late July and now sit at 1-10 on the campaign after a seven-game losing streak. It hasn't been for lack of effort, though, as the Roughriders lost by three to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Labour Day weekend and then dropped the rematch last week by a touchdown.

The Saskatchewan offense has struggled mightily during the slide, as quarterback Darian Durant has only thrown two touchdowns in the past five games and the team has topped the 15-point mark just twice during the losing streak.

Edmonton comes in on a mini losing streak itself, dropping its past two contests. Mike Reilly had a strong game in defeat last week against the Calgary Stampeders, going 35-of-45 for 432 yards and two scores.

That being said, the 2015 Grey Cup MVP had been struggling in recent weeks after starting out the season strong. The normally reliable Reilly threw five interceptions during a three-game stretch from late August to early September, after throwing just four in his first seven games.

The slump has dropped the Eskimos out of a playoff spot in the West, and they now sit two games back of the Bombers for third.
