RedBlacks look to stay atop the mountain against last-place Alouettes

The Montreal Alouettes will need their defense in top form if they hope to contend with the East Division leading Ottawa RedBlacks in this Week 9 matchup.

The Alouettes will enter Friday's game on a two-game losing streak, while the RedBlacks have been able to rest up with a bye in Week 8.

The showdown will feature a classic high-powered offense against a stingy defense, as Ottawa has proven to have the highest scoring offense in the East Division, while Montreal has allowed the least amount of points despite a fourth-place standing in the east.

The challenge for the Alouettes will fall under offensive output. Montreal has lacked significantly on the offensive side of the ball and will need more than a strong showing from veteran quarterback Kevin Glenn to power them over the division leaders.

The recent release of Nic Grigsby opens up an opportunity for Travon Van to make an immediate impact upon his return from injury. Prior to his release, Grigsby was sixth in the league in rushing with 265 yards.

RedBlacks receiver Chris Williams will also look to gunslinger Henry Burris to help him build on his league-leading seven touchdown receptions against an Alouettes defense that has played exceptionally well. Defensive back Billy Parker has reeled in two interceptions thus far, with Jovon Johnson, Bear Woods, and Chip Cox all chipping in with an interception apiece.

Kickoff is set for Aug. 19, at 7:00 p.m. ET from TD Place Stadium.
