The Ottawa RedBlacks released running back Nic Grigsby on Wednesday, the club announced.
Grigsby, 27, appeared in five contests for Ottawa this season. He racked up 265 yards and one touchdown on 59 carries, filling in for the injured Travon Van.
The RedBlacks presumably deemed Grigsby expendable after Van returned to practice. Van has been out of the lineup since Week 2 because of a knee injury.
