Eskimos look to take down Tiger-Cats, tie for 1st in West
The Edmonton Eskimos welcome the Hamilton Tiger-Cats into Commonwealth Stadium as they look to pull into a tie with the BC Lions for first place in the Western Division.
The TiCats, possessing a 2-2 record so far this season, are undefeated on the road, and have been holding their own without the presence of starting quarterback Zach Collaros under centre.
The matchup will be a tail of potent offence going up against stingy defence, as the Eskimos have averaged 483.7 yards per game to the TiCats' 344.8 yards. Hamilton's defence will be a force for Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly to contend with, as the TiCats corps has averaged 4.3 sacks per game to go along with 1.8 fumbles forced.
Jeremiah Masoli has performed adamantly in Collaros' absence, completing 71.1 percent of his passes for 1,141 yards and five touchdown passes to go along with five interceptions. Reilly is ahead of Masoli in total passing yards, but barely, registering 1,226 yards thus far with seven touchdown passes and two interceptions.
Both teams sit in second place of their respective divisions, and both are coming off of victories in Week 4. The TiCats (2-2) will look to avoid falling under the .500 mark after earning a convincing 31-7 victory against the Montreal Alouettes last week, while the Eskimos (2-1) look to continue the momentum built in a narrow 20-16 victory in Week 4 over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
